Melatonin Supplements for Kids
Melatonin for Kids
Melatonin is a hormone that the brain produces and tells the body that it’s time to go to sleep. Our bodies learn to follow a sleep wake cycle, so it knows when to increase melatonin production for bedtime and decrease melatonin production when it’s time to wake up. But there are times when kids’ sleep schedules are in disarray – like when they get too much screen time at night, or when bedtime routines are thrown off by holidays, time changes, and more.
That’s why some parents consider melatonin supplements, like Vicks PURE Zzzs Kidz, on the occasional nights their kids struggle to fall asleep.
Why Choose Vicks PURE Zzzs Kidz
Vicks PURE Zzzs Kidz Gummies and Liquid are specially designed for kids with a low dose of melatonin and are drug free and non-habit forming. Vicks PURE Zzzs Kidz can help your child fall asleep naturally* and are great-tasting. How Much Sleep Do Kids Need

How Much Sleep do Babies and Toddlers Need
Babies need lots of sleep, even though their parents may not get enough. Newborns (0-3 months) need 14-17 hours of sleep each day. That sleep happens in short spurts so they can wake up to feed. Infants (4-11 months) need 12-15 hours of sleep each day. Around 4 months is also when they start sleeping in longer spurts, eventually sleeping through the night. Toddlers (1-2 years) need 11-14 hours of sleep each day. It’s so important to set a bedtime routine at this age to establish healthy sleep habits.
How Much Sleep do Young Children Need
School-age kids need sleep so they can wake up ready to learn each day. Preschoolers (3-5 years) need 10-13 hours of sleep per day. School-aged children (6-13 years) need 9-11 hours of sleep. Putting screens away well before bedtime is a good idea to keep blue light from interrupting your kids’ sleep-wake cycle.
How Much Sleep do Teenagers Need
Being older doesn’t mean you can stay up later – no matter how much your teenager wants to push bedtime boundaries. Teenagers (14-17 years) need 8-10 hours of sleep each night.
Why Sleep is So Important for Kids
Sleep is so important at every age, but for kids, even more. Kids are constantly growing, developing, and learning. The rest they get each night is crucial to make that happen, especially because kids’ bodies make HGH (human growth hormone) while they sleep. They also need sleep to keep them alert and awake at school, since they are learning so much at such a rapid rate. Read more about why sleep is important for kids.
